The short version

Who we are

These sites are made by Handy Little Tools, in the UK. We are responsible for your information under UK data protection law (UK GDPR). To ask us anything, or to use any of your rights below, use the Feedback button on any of our sites and tell us how to reach you.

What we keep, and why

On your phone or computer (not sent to us): your lists, ticks and settings, the best scores in the games and which questions you've already seen. This uses your browser's own storage. You can clear it any time in your browser settings.

If you sign in: your email address (so we can sign you in with a link โ€“ there's no password to remember), and the things you choose to put in: your lists and pages, and โ€“ in LearnbyYear โ€“ your children's first names, school year, homework, progress and, only if you add them, a photo and documents. If you share with your family, we keep who's in your family group. We use all of this only to run the sites for you.

Feedback: if you send us a message through the Feedback button, we receive what you write and any contact details you include.

Keeping the sites safe: our hosting provider may briefly record technical details such as your IP address, to stop attacks and keep the sites working.

Children

Our sites are made for parents and carers. Children use LearnbyYear and the games on a grown-up's phone or account โ€“ they don't need an account of their own, and we don't ask them for any personal information.

Connecting your AI (Claude or ChatGPT)

If you choose to connect an AI assistant, it can read and change your lists when you ask it to. You can disconnect it at any time from the AI's settings. What you type into the AI is covered by that company's own privacy policy.

Companies that help us run the sites

These companies handle information only to provide their service to us:

How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as you have an account. If you ask us to delete it, we remove it. Information stored only on your phone stays until you clear it.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to how we use it. Use the Feedback button and we'll reply within a month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is important, we'll tell you on the sites.
